Waste Transport
As of January 1st, 2023, Waste Management will no longer be picking up the curbside garbage. They are no longer servicing the Nelson area. The village has signed a contract with Waste Transport out of Cochrane, WI. Thursdays will still be the garbage pick up day, however, they are asking residents to have their bags outside by 6:00am for pick up.UPDATE: Bags will be sold in packs of 10 for $32.00... NOT individually. Check or money order for purchases at ALL locations.
Bags can be purchased at The Top Hat Bar and Nelson Discount Liquor. They are no longer available to purchase at Handy Mart. Also can be purchased thru me at my home in Nelson. You can text or call me for pick up at 715.495.9773.

A charming historical Mississippi River town located approx. 1 hour south of St. Paul, Minnesota. Nelson, a village in Buffalo County, with a population of approx. 395. Back in 1832 Thompson, Trimble & Morton became the owners of the sections of land. In 1837 J. W. Rhodes and Thomas Nelson platted a village and began the erection of a Mill. The Village of Nelson is located on the east side of the Mississippi River, just across the bridge from Wabasha.
