Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released from rubbish in landfill sites. Garbage Pickup
As of January 1, 2023: Waste Management will no longer be picking up the curbside garbage. They are no longer servicing the Nelson area. The Village has signed a contract with Waste Transport out of Cochrane, WI.Bags will be sold in packs of 10 for $32.00... NOT individually. Check or money order for purchases at ALL locations.

A charming historical Mississippi River town located approx. 1 hour south of St. Paul, Minnesota. Nelson, a village in Buffalo County, with a population of approx. 395. Back in 1832 Thompson, Trimble & Morton became the owners of the sections of land. In 1837 J. W. Rhodes and Thomas Nelson platted a village and began the erection of a Mill. The Village of Nelson is located on the east side of the Mississippi River, just across the bridge from Wabasha.
